Suddenly… the air quality

Suddenly… the air quality

In the latest period, there has been a growing focus on the control and purification of indoor air quality. This trend, which started a few years ago, certainly had a greater emphasis during the pandemic.

But apart from the pandemic, why is it important to monitor indoor air quality?

Several studies have investigated the correlation between air quality in homes, offices, schools, etc. and the well-being of the people involved. A good monitoring and purification system can help to:

  1. Improve the living conditions and well-being of occupants;
  2. Increase productivity in environments where the air is constantly monitored (such as offices);
  3. Decrease the spread of diseases and viruses;
  4. Purify against pollutants such as PM2.5, PM10, CO2, tVoc, dust, allergens, etc.

There are now many different types of devices available on the market with different technologies and operating modes.

However, it is not only important to monitor air quality, but also the parameters that affect the quality of the environment, such as light, noise, humidity and radiation. Studies have shown that environments with low indoor environmental quality lead to increased discomfort such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, eye, nose or throat irritation, dry cough, dry or itchy skin, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, colds, flu and similar symptoms, etc. In order to check and monitor the quality of the environment, it may be useful to consider installing devices for detecting these parameters, for example in offices or at home.

For the well-being of our customers, HDM has signed partnerships with two Israeli companies that have developed innovative air monitoring and purification devices. The first, Smart Air, consists of a purification system that cleans and disinfects the air by monitoring its quality in real time. The results can be viewed through an app available for both Android and iOS. Thanks to its 4-stage purification process, Smart Air is able to capture 99.9% of tiny airborne particles, including allergens, and shows a 99.97% effectiveness rate against flu viruses such as H1N1 (Swine Flu), H5H1 (Avian Flu) and Sars-Cov-2. Thanks to the UV ray light inside, it not only captures but also eliminates bacteria, viruses and parasites. Smart Air also functions as a certified carbon monoxide and smoke detector. All this in a compact size (37.5×37.5×15 cm). The special design also allows it to be mounted on a wall or placed on a shelf.

A mini version is also available, which can be easily carried and used e.g. in restaurants, on trains, in cars, etc.

The second device is BeEM,  a system designed to monitor air and noise pollutants. Compact and lightweight (13x13x8 cm), the indoor version of this device is particularly suitable for monitoring air quality in offices, shared workspaces and meeting rooms. Through a dashboard, it is possible to be updated in real time on environmental conditions and intervene if the values of certain parameters require it. In fact, it is possible to receive alerts whenever a problem is detected by one or more monitored environments, allowing manual or automatic systems to control the situation. In addition, the data analysis provides useful information on how to adjust the environmental systems of facilities to improve the health of employees. Instructions are also provided on how to continuously improve the quality of the environment, estimating potential dangerous environmental circumstances and helping to prevent them through recommendations and suggestions.

Through these systems we can control and improve the air we breathe, protecting us from allergens, fine dust and volatile organic compounds.

We too have installed the devices in our offices to breathe better air and maintain a healthier environment to safeguard the well-being of our employees.
